Lives At Risk: HSA Forces Closure Of High Risk Construction On Bridge Street Site In Kilcock

The move follows an extensive investigation by HSA inspectors, who found conditions so "serious" that court intervention was deemed necessary.

The Health and Safety Authority has secured a High Court order to shut down a construction site in Kilcock due to serious safety concerns.

The order, granted with the consent of the site owner under Section 71 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, prohibits any further work on the Bridge Street site until urgent safety measures are implemented.

The move follows an extensive investigation by HSA inspectors, who found conditions so "serious" that court intervention was deemed necessary.

HSA Interim CEO Mark Cullen said the decision was not taken lightly, but said that the Authority is "legally and morally compelled to act" when lives are at risk. He warned that invoking Section 71 powers is reserved for only the most serious breaches of health and safety law.

The site will remain closed until all risks are fully addressed and compliance is independently verified.

The HSA is urging all employers to prioritise safety and strictly adhere to regulations.
