"Let Me Be Clear, This Government Will Not Be Introducing Water Charges," Says Tanaiste Simon Harris

He said for the "avoidance of any doubt" there is "no intention" to introduce the charges, despite it being mentioned in a "Ministerial Brief".

"Let me be clear, this Government will not be introducing water charges."

That's according to Tanaiste Simon Harris.

Speaking on Kildare Today, he said a Ministerial Brief highlights issues that should be brought to the Minister's attention.

He said for the "avoidance of any doubt" there is "no intention" to introduce the charges, despite it being mentioned in a Brief.

He believes Housing Minister James Browne could not "have acted more quickly" in making that point yesterday.
