Leap into Savings: NTA's National Fare Strategy Brings Significant Reductions For Newbridge And Kildare Town Commuters

Commuters in Athy and Monasterevin won't see big changes, but the NTA aims to roll out these fare changes across the country in the coming years.

Newbridge and Kildare town commuters are in for reduced fares with the National Transport Authority's (NTA) new National Fare Strategy.

The strategy replaces the short hop zone with a Dublin Commuter Zone, covering Newbridge and Kildare town stations.

Commuters from this zone to Dublin city center can expect significant fare cuts – up to 45% for Newbridge and 37% for Kildare town when leap card savings kick in.

A journey from Newbridge to Dublin Heuston currently costing €10.85 will drop down to €6 once Leap Cards are available for use at the stations. For commuters from Kildare town, a single adult fare, currently €11.95 will drop to €7.50 with a leap card, a 37% drop from current single adult fare.

The NTA plans to introduce new ticket options for the Dublin Commuter Zone, including 1-day, 7-day, monthly, and annual tickets, which will also apply to buses in the area.

Commuters in Athy and Monasterevin won't see big changes, but the NTA aims to roll out these fare changes across the country in the coming years.
