Claims Ladies Senior Camogie Final Celebrated In Dark Refuted By Kildare LGFA And Kildare GAA

In a statement provided to Kfm, Kildare LGFA said: “it held its Senior Club Championship Final between Eadestown and St. Laurence's on 3rd October 2025 in Cedral St. Conleth's Park, Newbridge. They said: “Kildare LGFA can confirm that all stadium lights were not turned off prior to the cup presentation and that full access to all facilities in Cedral St. Conleth's Park was given by Kildare GAA.”

Claims that stadium pitch lights were turned off before the presentations at both the Ladies Senior Camogie Final and Senior Ladies Final in Newbridge at matches played on the 3rd and the 10th of October have been refuted by Kildare LGFA and Kildare GAA.

The alleged incidents occurred at Cedral St. Conleth’s Park.

Freelance Photographer Aisling Hyland from Athy said "since its re-opening there has been only one ladies LGFA club game and only 1 ladies club camogie game, the senior Championship Final. In both the ladies finals, the pitch lights were switched off before the presentation."

The stand lights, however, remained on.

It is usually standard that pitch lights are switched off after 15 minutes.

My Hyland said: "Friends, families and supporters couldn't celebrate properly with the players on the pitch. The camogie players had to go around with the torches on their phones to find their hurls and helmets."

In a statement provided to Kfm, Kildare LGFA said it held its Senior Club Championship Final between Eadestown and St. Laurence's on 3rd October 2025 in Cedral St. Conleth's Park, Newbridge. They said: “Kildare LGFA can confirm that all stadium lights were not turned off prior to the cup presentation and that full access to all facilities in Cedral St. Conleth's Park was given by Kildare GAA.”

They added: “Kildare LGFA are currently planning for our 2025 County Convention, which will be held on the 16th November 2025 in Cedral St. Conleth's Park. Following Convention, the incoming Kildare LGFA Executive will continue the positive working relationship both Executive committees have enjoyed. Kildare LGFA will work constructively with Kildare GAA to agree the use of facilities for the 2026 Inter-County and Club season.”

In a statement provided to Kfm, Kildare GAA said "the stadium lights at Cedral St. Conleth’s Park remained on throughout the conclusion of the Ladies Senior Camogie Final and the Ladies LGFA Final, including the presentations of the cups.”

They added: “Kildare GAA, Kildare LGFA, and Kildare Camogie maintain a strong and positive working relationship, founded on mutual respect and a shared commitment to the promotion and development of Gaelic games for all participants across the county.”
