Marcel Kusenda was also sexually assaulted by another man while seriously injured.
A man has been jailed for six and a half years for killing his housemate in Newbridge in March 2023.
Damian Szatkowski (38) of Peachville, Kilshane, Dublin 11 prevented a witness from calling an ambulance after twice assaulting Marcel Kusenda.
Emergency services found Mr Kusenda alive but unresponsive.
He was brought to Naas General Hospital.
Mr Kusenda had been living in Newbridge for about 8 years.
Szatkowski, a polish national, had not been living with him long before the fatal assault took place.
Mr Kusenda was also sexually assaulted by another man while seriously injured.
