Report finds major divide in garda numbers across the country.

New research has revealed Kildare has one of the fewest number of gardaí per capita.

The Irish Independent has found a major divide in garda numbers across the country.

Meath has the lowest number, with one frontline officer for every 703 people.

After that, Kildare has the fewest gardaí per capita, at 171 per 100,000 people

Waterford tops the list, with one garda for every 338 people.

Nationally almost 14 thousand gardaí were employed at the end of June.
