In Dublin on Sunday, 9th October & Kilkenny 16th October
At the age of 33, Lynne Buckley found a lump on her breast, but originally wrote it off as a milk duct due to pregnancy.
At her 16-week pregnancy appointment she noted the lump to her midwife & was then referred to a consultant.
Within days, Lynne received an ultrasound, mammogram & biopsy.
One week later, while pregnant with her third child, Lynne was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer.
The Sallins resident had 2 young daughters at the time, Sophia & Eva, aged 3 & 9 months.
The following week she underwent a lumpectomy & sentinel node dissection - the results revealed the diagnosis of Stage 3 Grade 3 Triple Negative breast cancer - an aggressive form of the disease.
At 26 weeks pregnant Lynne began treatment, including chemotherapy, additional surgery & radiation.
Lynne stop chemotherapy, to give birth to her now 5 year-old son, Adam.
Two weeks later she returned to chemotherapy.
After treatment & additional surgeries, Lynne took the decision to have a mastectomy.
Since her treatment, and eventual mastectomy, Lynne receives continued check-ups.
As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lynne is encouraging others to take part in 'The Great Pink Run'.
The event in Leopardstown Racecourse takes place on Saturday, 8th October & Kilkenny Castle on Saturday, 16th October.
