The Greyabbey-based charity organisation responded to oil spills in Laois and South Dublin that posed threats to local wildlife

Kildare Wildlife Rescue has been called to two severe oil spills in the span of one week.

The charity organisation, based in Greyabbey, responded to an oil spill in Laois last Saturday that affected three lakes surrounded by houses.

The spill put a family of swans, ducks, waterhens, herons and cormorants in a critical situation.

The charity's trained response team was onsite to assist, whilst volunteers were prepared for animal admissions.

Following this, Kildare Wildlife Rescue was called to another severe oil spill on Wednesday night, this time in Kilbogget Park, South Dublin

The team was onsite in the morning, and were able to rescue the resident swan family - four cygnets with their two parents.

The swam family received care at the charity's centre.

The charity have urged members of the public to stay away from the affected areas and to avoid walking dogs in the park until the oil is cleaned.
