Businesses in Kildare Town say they are struggling - and the lack of on-street parking is being blamed.
Local councillor Suzanne Doyle (FF) has called on local authorities to embrace the idea of multi-storey car parks and make the necessary investment.
She said figures for paid parking show how Kildare Town has the lowest ratio of parking spaces when compared to areas like Newbridge and Athy.
She said the number of parking spaces in the Town simply doesn’t match the needs of the local community.
