A Kildare TD says Ireland's economy "needs to" follow Leo Varadkar's forecast that it will take off "like a rocket" on reopening.

Hotels and B&Bs can welcome back guests for the first time in more than 5 months from today.

Guesthouses and self-catering accommodation can also reopen, as part of the government's planned easing of restrictions.

Restaurants and pubs have to wait until next Monday to resume outdoor services - and they can't serve indoors until July 5th.

Government yesterday announced its €4 billion National Recovery Plan, which includes a range of supports for businesses and staff.

Kildare North Fine Gael TD, Bernard Durkan, has been speaking to Kildare Today.

Deputy Durkan joined Clem Ryan on Wednesday's edition of the programme, on a range of topics.
