Kildare South TD Urges Caution As Bird Flu Detected In Dead Birds On Irish Beaches

The HSE has rated the current risk to the general public from Avian flu as low, rising to medium risk for those exposed by occupation.

People are being reminded not to touch dead or wild birds on beaches over the summer.

The warning comes after two dead sea birds, washed up on Irish beaches, were found to have tested positive for bird flu.

The birds were discovered on beaches in Kerry and Galway.

Agriculture Minister and Kildare South TD Martin Heydon is also advising poultry farmers in Kerry, Clare and Galway, to take biosecurity measures to protect their flocks.
