Fiona O’Loughlin concerned many students will be unable to attend
A Kildare Senator is calling on third level institutions to ensure their are contingency plans for upcoming exams.
Fianna Fáil’s Fiona O’Loughlin is concerned that Dublin University is said to be proceeding with in person exams next week.
Senator O’Loughlin thinks it is unfair that many students will not be able to attend due to contracting Covid-19, or being close contacts.
Senator O’Loughlin commented, “It has come to my attention that one Dublin university is proceeding with in person exams starting Tuesday. Many students will not be able to attend due to contracting covid, or being close contacts.
“There is no contingency plan for affected students. This is hugely unfair on the students and also causes a huge risk that students won’t test for fear of a positive result meaning they can’t sit their exams. Students will be travelling from all over the country by public transport to Dublin, causing greater risk to themselves and others.
“I have written to the University in question and Minister for Higher Education on the matter.”
