"He's embarrassed"
One Kildare woman reached out to KFM by letter, discussing her uncle's "horrendous situation".
Under the pseudonym Mary, she discussed the skin issues her uncle is suffering, on Wednesday's 'Kildare Today'.
In June 2020, 'Mary's' uncle thought there were fleas or ticks in his home, as he was being bitten.
This lead to incredible itching keeping him awake - scratching throughout the night.
He thought it may be his pet dog, maybe suffering with fleas.
The dog got treated by a vet, and he followed the advice of getting his home's carpets & soft furnishings treated.
'Mary's' uncle has sought medical advice.
He was treated for scabies, head lice, as 'Mary' puts it "you name it we've tried it".
She noted several pest control companies have called to his home, taking samples, revealing bed bugs & fleas.
The house was blessed by a priest.
'Mary' notes "I've even gone to the extreme of having a spiritual cleanser at the house - we're at a loss".
He has thrown out all his furniture, photographs & personal items.
She notes he can't even live in the home.
She notes as a result it's now in his partner's home & his car.
He is showering four times a day, shaving his head, legs & arms.
'Mary' continued "we feel like we can't help him & we really want to help him".
"We're basically at our wits end, my uncle has exhausted all avenues."
He is "pretty much living in isolation", as he fears passing it to anyone & others are scared they will pick it up.
'Mary' spoke to 'Kildare Today' hoping someone listening can help.
