Kildare Gardaí Seize 50 Vehicles In Crackdown On Uninsured And Disqualified Drivers

The Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) says private uninsured cars make up 4 point 2 per cent of the private fleet across the country.

Kildare Gardai seized 50 vehicles over the past week for having no insurance, tax or NCT.

Some of the cars seized were also driven by unaccompanied learner permit holders and disqualified drivers.

Meanwhile, the percentage of uninsured private cars on our roads has almost halved.

It's being put down to the introduction of the new system to help Gardaí detect uninsured drivers.

The Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) says private uninsured cars make up 4 point 2 per cent of the private fleet across the country.

MIBI Chief Executive, David Fitzgerald says the new detection system is working very well.
