Naas Cllr Told Clamping In Private Car Parks Outside Council’s Control

It suggest's that private operators should use a ticketing system or barriers instead of clamping.

Kildare County Council has no powers to prevent private car park operators using clamping companies, according to council officials.

Cllr Evie Sammon (FG) raised the issue, which she said has been widely discussed online.

She said private operators should use a ticketing system or barriers instead of clamping as a way to manage paid parking in Naas.

Council officials said responsibility lies with the National Transport Authority (NTA) under the Vehicle Clamping Act 2015.

They said motorists can appeal to the NTA if unsatisfied after an initial appeal to the operator.
