Kildare County Council Using Chinese Surveillance Cameras Banned In UK And Australia

It's also understood that they are used at some libraries across the county.

Security experts are warning about the use of thousands of controversial Chinese surveillance cameras in public places across Ireland.

Hikvision is used by councils, hospitals and universities, with thousands of its CCTV cameras recording footage in swimming pools, courthouses and even a brand new Civil Defence HQ in County Cavan.

Kildare County Council also uses them for remote monitoring during construction.

It's also understood that they are used at some libraries across the county.

They are banned in Australia and the UK.

Patricia Devlin from 'The Journal Investigates' says Government's been given multiple warnings about potential foreign access to critical infrastructure.

Speaking to Kfm, she outlined how Kildare County Council is using them.
