The council acknowledged that the building is in dire need of renovation.
Plans to renovate Kildare Town Courthouse are expected to commence this year.
It comes as Kildare County Council confirmed that accessible toilets at the courthouse, completed in 2023, will not be used as a public toilet facility due to daily management and funding requirements.
Fine Gael Cllr Paddy Curran queried why the toilet is not open to the public.
The council said the closure of public toilet facilities in County Kildare in 2018 was justified by the significant cost associated with their management, outweighing the minimal income generated.
The council said the Courthouse is in dire need of renovation, with works expected to commence this year.
