Kildare County Council has announced a packed programme for Climate Week 2025, running from Tuesday 28th to Friday 31st October.
The week will feature ten events across the county, all designed to create awareness about sustainability, responsible consumption and energy efficiency.
Home Retrofitting Clinics:
The Mount Lucas Laois and Offaly Education Training Board (LOETB) Retrofit Rig will be at the Áras Chill Dara car park, offering advice on home retrofitting and energy upgrades at two drop-in clinics:
Tuesday 28th October (10.30 am - 4pm):
An LOETB Tutor will be joined by Kore Insulation providing advice on airtightness and insulation. A Community Climate Action Programme information session will also run from 10.30am – 12.30pm for interested community groups.
Friday 31st October (11.30am – 1pm):
Joining the LOETB Tutor will be County SEAI Mentor Emer Conway offering guidance and answering questions about SEAI grants.
Book Club Launch:
Environmental activist Sadhbh O’Neill will launch a new climate themed book club at Maynooth Library on Tuesday 28th October at 6.30pm.
The first book for discussion is ‘The Lie of the Land’, by John Gibbons, which has received excellent reviews.
The club will meet monthly for six months.
Some other events during the week include Sewing workshops in Naas Library and Cultural Centre, Film Screenings, and a Sustainable Merchandise Giveaway
Speaking ahead of the event Mary Morrissey, Climate Action Officer, Kildare County Council said, “The day-to-day choices we make have an impact on the creation of a sustainable future for generations to come. We hope that Climate Week will support and help inform positive choices and behavioural change.”
