Kildare County Council has confirmed it has submitted a joint application for consent - along with a compulsory purchase order - for the Celbridge Hazelhatch Mobility Project to An Coimisiún Pleanála.
The project aims to deliver a new bridge over the River Liffey, easing pressure on Celbridge’s town-centre crossing and improving access between the town and Hazelhatch Train Station.
Both the planning application and the proposed land acquisition can be viewed until 5 January 2026 at Áras Chill Dara, Celbridge Community Library, and on the council’s public consultation portal.
Members of the public can make submissions, observations or objections in writing.
The scheme includes 2 kilometres of new single-carriageway road, a new Liffey bridge, a 150-metre realignment of the R405 Hazelhatch Road, and new junctions at Clane Road, Newtown Road and Simmonstown Manor Road.
It also involves utility upgrades, new drainage, public lighting, landscaping and environmental mitigation works.
The route runs through the townlands of Oakley Park, Celbridge Abbey, Newtown, Simmonstown, Commons, Commons Lower and Loughlinstown.
