Four Irish charities are appealing to Kildare locals to help resettle 15 Syrian families stranded in Lebanon.
The Irish Red Cross, Doras, the Irish Refugee Council, and Nasc are urging groups of friends, neighbours, or colleagues to support refugees with housing and integration under the Community Sponsorship Ireland programme.
The families were selected in 2022 for resettlement.
Minister Roderic O’Gorman expressed confidence in the programme, saying communities have "demonstrated so often how they come together to support refugees arriving in Ireland".
The four charities have been working in partnership to deliver the Community Sponsorship Ireland programme since 2019.
Since 2019, they have supported 26 Syrian and Afghan refugee families into local communities.
