Kildare Cllr Calls For Capital Investment To Replace Water Mains In North-West Kildare

It follows another burst main over the weekend, leaving many without water.

Calls have been made for adequate capital investment to be provided to replace the water mains in North- West Kildare.

Large parts of the county are often left without water due to burst water mains.

The calls come as customers in Allen, Pluckerstown, Ballintine, Kilmeage, Ballyteige North, Allenwood, Bluetown, Allenwood South, Lullymore, Killina, Dreenane, Derrinturn, Ballyhagan, Ticknevin, Kishawanny, Blackwood, Coill Dubh, Robertstown, Newtown Donore, Grangehiggen, Prosperous were left without water again on Sunday.

The mains runs along the stretch of road from the bottom of the Hill of Allen up towards Kilmeague, there's consistent work that needs to be carried out, said Cllr Aidan Farrelly

"We can't fix this line anymore,it had to be replaced" he said.

"There's so much pressure on the line," which Farrelly has attributed to population growth.

"It's not a minor inconvenience," he said.
