Kildare Among Higher-Reporting Counties For Domestic Abuse

Kildare ranked in the top half of the country’s Garda divisions, with higher reporting levels than Carlow, Meath and Wicklow.

New figures show Kildare had one of the higher rates of domestic abuse calls to Gardaí last year, at 13.28 per 1,000 people – above the national average.

Kildare ranked in the top half of the country’s Garda divisions, with higher reporting levels than Carlow, Meath and Wicklow. 

Dublin divisions recorded higher rates than the county, as did Limerick and the Louth/Cavan/Monaghan division.

Nationally, domestic abuse reports to Gardaí have risen by 45 percent in four years, with more than 65,000 calls logged in 2024, according to the Irish Independent.
