KCC & Swim Ireland "In Discussions" Regarding A Swimming Pool Facility In North Kildare

A pop-up pool ran from May-December in Leixlip this year

Kildare County Council says it is "in discussions" with Swim Ireland with a view to advancing a permanent swimming facility for North Kildare.

A pop-up pool was opened in Leixlip in May and closed last Sunday, with the facility generally being branded a success.

Approximately 7,500 slots were booked during the 7 months, with 7 local schools taking part in the School Swimming Programme, and 15 Community Based Programmes catering for a number of groups within the local area.

KCC is to receive a detailed report from Swim Ireland, but says discussions are ongoing and meetings have been held in order to find a solution.

Locals councillors in Celbridge, Leixlip, Kilcock and Maynooth have all been calling for a permanent facility to be established.
