ISPCC Calls For Action As 50 Children A Year Contact Childline Over Suicidal Thoughts

The ISPCC is appealing for support for Ireland's only 24/7 listening service for children and young people.

Around 50 children a year make contact with Childline while attempting to take their own life.

The ISPCC is appealing for support for Ireland's only 24/7 listening service for children and young people.

The Childline team says it spends the equivalent of 50 full days a year talking to children and young people in immediate crisis.

Speaking on Kildare Today, Aoife Griffin from the ISPCC, says children that contact them are often experiencing severe neglect and abuse.
