Irish Fiddler Secures €44,000 In Dispute With Castledermot Country Star’s Management

Facebook

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) ruled that McGranaghan was unfairly dismissed by the Michael English Band’s management in 2021 after six years of work.

Matt McGranaghan, a former fiddler for Castledermot country star Michael English, has won nearly €44,000 for unfair dismissal and employment rights breaches.

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) ruled that McGranaghan was unfairly dismissed by the Michael English Band’s management in 2021 after six years of work.

The tribunal applied principles from a recent Supreme Court ruling, determining McGranaghan was an employee, not a contractor.

According to the Irish Independent, the decision hinged on the control exercised by the employer and McGranaghan’s consistent work with the band.

McGranaghan was awarded compensation for unfair dismissal and other employment law breaches.
