Ireland's diaspora strategy aims to copper-fasten connections between the Global Irish and Ireland.

The protocol runs until 2025, and contains supports for vulnerable emigrants, aims to continue to lobby for legal pathways of migration, particularly in the US.

Government is also to expand the honorary consul network in regions with significant diaspora communities

Minister of State for the Diaspora, Colm Burke, has been speaking to Kildare Today.

He says, in addition, returning Kildare emigrants have availed of return supports and set up companies.

Minister Brophy joined Clem Ryan on Thursday's edition of the programme.
