Organisation says schools should become more inclusive place for LGBT teachers.

Extra training is needed for teachers in order to clamp down on bullying, an Oireachtas Education Committee has heard.

The meeting was chaired by Kildare Fianna Fáil Senator, Fiona O'Loughlin.

The INTO says 90 per cent of teachers received no training on how to deal with transphobic and homophobic bullying and they're calling for additional supports to be introduced.

President of the Irish National Teachers Organisation, Joe McKeown, has been speaking to Kildare Today.

He says schools must become more inclusive places for LGBT teachers.
