Increasing Fines Will Not Prevent People Entering Ireland With Incorrect Documents, Says Kildare Travel Journalist

There's been a drop of up to 40 per cent in the number of people entering the country with false or misleading documentation, according to the Justice Minister.

Airlines and ferry companies are facing increased fines for allowing people to travel with incorrect documents.

They will now be fined €5000 - up from €3000.

However, pressure remains to eliminate the practice and tackle illegal immigration.

Kildare's Eoghan Corry, Editor of Travel Extra, doesn't think fining airlines will fix the problem.
