Iarnród Éireann is set to commence significant accessibility improvements at Athy Station on October 14th.
The upgrades include the construction of a new footbridge with two 13-person lifts, enhanced platform fencing, redesigned accessible parking, and upgraded station lighting.
Improvements will also be made to wayfinding, including tactile signage and a tactile map at the station entrance.
Additional help points and induction loops will be installed to support the existing public address system.

The upgrades are part of a broader national initiative to enhance accessibility across Ireland’s rail network, funded by the National Transport Authority.
Other Kildare stations, including Hazelhatch & Celbridge, Newbridge, and Maynooth, are also undergoing lift upgrades as part of the nationwide "Big Lift" programme, which aims to improve lift availability and reliability for mobility-impaired customers at 52 stations.
