Housing Needs In Athy: 797 Applicants Waiting, Castledermot And Nurney Also See High Demand

Athy has the highest number of applicants with 797 people on the waiting list, followed by Castledermot with 111 and Nurney with 71.

A recent report presented at a council meeting has provided an update on the housing waiting lists across the Athy Municipal District.

The figures, compiled from the I-House reporting system, show the number of applicants waiting for accommodation in various towns and townlands within the district.

The I-House system reports on applicants' chosen areas rather than their current place of residence.

Although the system does not allow for grouping all areas within the Municipal District, a breakdown of waiting lists in larger towns and townlands was provided.

The housing waiting list figures are as follows:

Athy: 797 applicants
Ballitore: 75 applicants
Ballyroe: 22 applicants
Calverstown: 35 applicants
Castledermot: 111 applicants
Castlemitchell/Castlerheban/Churchtown: 32 applicants
Castleroe/Levistown/Maganey: 17 applicants
Kilberry: 48 applicants
Kilkea: 28 applicants
Kilmead: 27 applicants
Moone/Timolin: 42 applicants
Narraghmore: 27 applicants
Nurney: 71 applicants
