Housing MInister: Failures At Water Treatment Plants In Kildre & Wexford "Unacceptable".

Irish Water to audit all plants, following incidents at Ballymore Eustace & Gorey.

The Housing and Local Government Minister is describing the failure of water treatment plants serving people in Wexford and Kildare as 'unacceptable'.

Irish Water is planning to audit all plants after contaminated water passed through the Gorey and Ballymore Eustace facilities last month.

The Kildare plant is Ireland's largest, and supplies water to 750,000 people.

The issues went unreported to almost a week, and at least 52 illness cases have been linked with the Wexford incident.

No illness have been reported arising from the Ballymore Eustace incident.

Pip Breen who's Cathaoirleach of Gorey-Kilmuckridge Municipal District says when the water was discoloured they didn't realise it was from the plants:
