House Hunters With Incomes Of Nearly €90K Will Struggle To Buy In Co.Kildare, Report Finds

The report found even with the Help to Buy Scheme couples in Kildare would be over €60k short for a house.

House-hunters with incomes of almost €90,000 in Kildare will struggle to find a home in many locations in the county, according to a report by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI).

The report also outlines similar affordability scenarios for various other counties such as Cork and Meath.

It found that a couple on a combined salary of €89,000 in Kildare, who want to buy a new home and have the 10% deposit having availed of the Help to Buy relief, would still face a €64,000 shortfall, as the average price is €418,000.

In Cork a couple would face a shortfall of €30,000 in where the average price of a new three-bed home in the suburbs is €380,000.

Only in Meath, where the average price is €340,000, would the couple be able to afford an average new home.
