The total figure includes 4,170 children.

Meanwhile, the Government failed to deliver on its own targets for the number of social and affordable homes built last year.
The Housing for All plan had aimed to deliver 13,130 new social homes in 2023.
However, final figures show 11,939 homes were delivered by local authorities and approved housing bodies last year.
Tanaiste Michael Martin says while they fell short of targets, more social homes were built in 2023 compared to previous years:
