Commission on Defence Forces says Ireland may be left without military

The Chief of Staff of Ireland's Defence Forces, says retention of staff has been the biggest challenge for the organisation over the past few years.

Understaffing was identified as a significant crisis point by the recent Commission on the Defence Forces.

It warned Ireland may be left without a credible military.

The country's Defence Forces are head-quartered at The Curragh, with the Department of Defence's head-office in Newbridge.
