Green Light For Upgrade Works To Begin In Saplings Special School In Kill

The issue was highlighted again on Kildare Today last week

Following an interview with Maud Nolan and Ciara Dunne on the Kildare Today programme last week, the Department of Education has given the go-ahead for upgrade works to be carried out in Saplings Special School in Kill.

The school, originally Kill National School, was built in 1950 and has seen little renovation despite decades of use.

Parents and staff have shouldered the burden of maintaining the facility, relying heavily on fundraising efforts.

However, issues like outdated heating systems and poor electrical infrastructure have left the school in need of an overhaul.

This was first highlighted by Kfm back in December  but parents expressed concern at a lack of progress in recent months.

Following Friday's interview, approval was given for work on the plumbing, heating and electrical work to begin and it will now go out to tender.

Local people have indicated that once this work is done, they are willing to help out with cleaning and painting the interior.
