Good News: Months Of Uncertainty End As Ballyteague Secures New Senior Service

The move comes following the sudden closure of the Allenwood centre back in March, which left dozens of older people - including some with dementia - without essential support.

After months of uncertainty, a senior care service is set to return to Ballyteague, replacing the Allenwood Day Care Centre which closed earlier this year.

Trustus Senior Care has announced that a new Day Centre will open at Ballyteague GAA Centre from Monday, June 30th.

The service will run five days a week, though initially at reduced capacity as transport arrangements and a new centre in Kilmeague are finalised.

The move comes following the sudden closure of the Allenwood centre back in March, which left dozens of older people - including some with dementia - without essential support.

Four of those affected by the initial closure moved to nursing homes.

Trustus says the new Ballyteague service will provide vital continuity for local seniors, who will be happy to see "many familiar faces" on their return to the centre.

The Allenwood day care centre in Ballyteague ceased all operations, including its meals on wheels service, on Friday, March 28th.
