Gardai have renewed their appeal for information after a suspected arson attack at a vacant residential property on the Celbridge Road in Leixlip in the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednesday).
It's thought the fire broke out at approximately 1.30am.
Speculation was circulating within the community in recent weeks that the premises, known locally as 'Honeywood', was being considered for the accommodating of asylum seekers.
The Department of Integration has confirmed however, that the premises was not being considered for this purpose.
No individuals were present inside the building during the incident, but the property, a seven-bedroom dormer bungalow, suffered significant damage.
Gardai have set up an incident room at Leixlip Garda Station.
They are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
