Gardai responded to reports of a fire at a vacant residential property on the Celbridge Road in Leixlip at around 1:30 am this morning.
The fire was eventually brought under control later this morning.
No individuals were present inside the building during the incident, but the property, a seven-bedroom dormer bungalow, suffered significant damage.
KFM understands speculation was circulating within the community in recent weeks about the premises being used to accommodate asylum seekers.
However, this was not confirmed.

Presently, the area is cordoned off to allow for a thorough technical examination of the scene.
Gardai have set up an incident room at Leixlip Garda Station.
They are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
Specifically, individuals who were in the vicinity of Celbridge Road and Forest Park between 12:30 am and 2:00 am and witnessed any unusual activity are encouraged to reach out to investigating Gardaí.
Local community members are also urged to assist the investigation by sharing any relevant information they may have.
