3 vehicle collision
Gardaí in Portlaoise are investigating a fatal crash on the M7 yesterday evening.
The three vehicle collision happened close to the intersection of the M7 and M8 motorway shortly after 7pm yesterday.
A man in his 80s was taken to University Hospital Limerick in a serious condition and later passed away.
The male driver of a second car who is in his 40s was also removed to UHL in a serious condition.
A female passenger in that car, received non-life threatening injuries.
Three people from a third car, including a child, were also taken to hospital for treatment.
It brings to 4 the number killed on Irish roads over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

On Saturday a 19 year old motorcyclist died when his bike was involved in a collision with another motorbike and a taxi on the Finglas Road, in Dublin.
On Sunday, a man in his 80s died when a car hit a tree at Loughlin's Bridge in Co Tipperary.
Yesterday morning a man aged in his 70s died when he was involved in a single vehicle crash on the Mullingar Road at Kilbeggan, in Westmeath.
