A group of men threw a young fisherman in the canal and urinated on him.
Gardai are appealing for information a theft and assault on two young men fishing at the Harbour in Monasterevin.
It happened on Saturday between 4 O'clock and 4.30pm.
A group of men pulled up in a 141 Kilkenny registered Audi A4, and took the fishermen's rods.
They then pushed one of them in to the canal, and urinated on him.
The group returned the rods and then left the scene.
Garda Seán O'Mahoney is stationed in Athy.
Speaking to Kildare Today, he has launched an appeal for witnesses.
