Fr Peter McVerry Steps Down As Charity Board Secretary, Denies Link To Governance Failings

Last year, Kfm highlighted how The Peter McVerry Trust asked its external auditor to purchase a property in Celbridge in 2016 to prevent the public from knowing that the charity was behind the transaction.

The founder of the Peter McVerry Trust says he remains committed to the housing and homeless charity.

Father Peter McVerry has stepped down as board secretary after more than 40 years.

But he says it has nothing to do with governance failings at the organisation, that led to a 15 million euro state bailout.

Last year, Kfm highlighted how The Peter McVerry Trust asked its external auditor to purchase a property in Celbridge in 2016 to prevent the public from knowing that the charity was behind the transaction.

Meanwhile, a transport company based just outside Celbridge, owned by tenants of the Peter McVerry Trust, received a €200,000 bus contract from the housing charity without a tender process.
