Locals within 100 metres have been advised to avoid the area as fire crews clean up.

Gardai have said there is no "immediate risk" to the public following a chemical spill in Athy.

Fire services are at the scene and the Kilberry road out of Athy is expected to reopen in an hour.

Locals living within 100 metres have been advised to avoid the area as fire crews clean up.

A local garda told Kfm, however, that there is no "immediate risk" to the public.
