A special meeting of the Clane–Maynooth Municipal District is being held on Monday to save Christmas.

Fianna Fáil councillor Donna Phelan has tabled a motion warning that, without urgent action, the district could face delays in getting festive lights up in time for the season.
She has asked the council to front-load the money from this year’s budget, and pay it back from the 2026 allocation - a workaround she says will keep the lights on.
