Kfm now understands that there have since been some positive developments, with a strong suggestion that the buuilding will be given to kildare County Council.
Intense discussions took place into the early hours of this morning between Fine Gael Cllr Tracey O' Dwyer, Kildare South Fine Gael TD Martin Heydon and senior figures from both the HSE and Kildare County Council in an effort to give a building in Kilcullen owned by the HSE back to locals.
Just yesterday evening, the HSE doubled down on its plans to sell the Old Dispensary building in Kilcullen on the open market, sparking shock among local residents and public representatives who had hoped the property would be handed over for community use a possible day care centre.
Locals spent years restoring the building for community use.
Kfm now understands that there have since been some positive developments, with a strong suggestion that the building will be given to Kildare County Council.
We can reveal that an extraordinary u-turn by the HSE could possibly be now on the cards, with an announcement expected at some point today.
However, the costs associated with a possible transfer have yet to be ironed out and the deal could include additional clauses.
The proposed sale of the building on the open market was also highlighted in the Seanad this week by Fianna Fail Senator Fiona O'Loughlin.
