€113,000 Difference Between Mortgage Values & Median House Price.

Figure is based on the maximum mortgage draw-down for Kildare's median wage.

There's a €113,000 disparity between average Kildare house prices and the maximum mortgage allowable on the median wage.

An analysis of CSO data shows a person on a median income and a 20 percent deposit can only buy a home in Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Longford, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.

The maxium mortgage available in Kildare on a median salary is € 207,307

The median house price here is € 320,000

Kieran McQuinn, a research professor at the ESRI, says the result illustrates Ireland's high property prices.

Estimated max mortgage for someone earning the median wage and with a 20% deposit:
Dublin: €217,000
Kildare: €207,307
Wicklow: €204,246
Meath: €193,335
Louth: €166,671
