Diageo plans to seek approval from Kildare County Council to double capacity at its €200m carbon-neutral brewery in Littleconnell, Newbridge.
The expansion would boost output to 4.5 million hectolitres.
The site is already a hub for lagers and ales including Rockshore, Harp, Smithwick’s and Carlsberg.
The facility is Diageo’s second largest brewing operation in Ireland after St James’s Gate.
With the upgrade, it would also produce Guinness and Guinness 0.0 for emerging markets.
The plans are expected to be lodged with the council in November.
Speaking to Kfm, Kildare South TD and Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon said the move would provide an economic and employment boost for the county.
