"Love inflation" is running at almost 5 per cent in the lead-up to Valentine's Day.

Locals celebrating this weekend are being warned restaurant prices have risen by 4 per cent in the last year, chocolates have jumped by 11 per cent, and taxis are up 9 per cent.

Research by economist Austin Hughes in the Irish Independent shows the cost of flowers is relatively unchanged.
