Councillors Call For Deployment Of Drones To Stop Dumping In North Kildare.

Dumping will top the agenda at a Kildare Municipal District meeting this week.

Three motions on dumping, littering and fly-tipping have been submitted for debate.

There has been an anecdotal increase in littering across Kildare since the beginning of the pandemic.

Community groups in a single Kildare MD have collected 6.8 tonnes of litter under the Green Kilometre Scheme this year, alone.

Fianna Fáil Cllr., Darragh Fitzpatrick, wants to know if Kildare County Council can deploy drones in "the fight against litter in this municipal district."

Party colleague, Naoise Ó Cearúil wants an accounting of the number of littering fines issued by KCC's warden in the Clane Maynooth MD this year.

While Fine Gael Cllr., Tim Durkan, wants KCC to "confirm when will the 1100 litre commercial bins be provided in the Harbour Field as agreed at our last meeting".

All three motions will be debated at the monthly meeting on Friday.
