Council Officials In Kildare Meet With Met Éireann For A Briefing Ahead Of Tomorrow's Storm

A status yellow wind warning has been issued for the county, from 5am to 8pm.

Storm Kathleen is expected to bring severe and damaging gusts this weekend.

Officials from Kildare County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team (SWAT) convened this afternoon following a briefing with Met Éireann and the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management.

A status yellow wind warning has been issued for the county, from 5am to 8pm.

Residents are urged to exercise caution during this period and brace for challenging travel conditions. The potential hazards include fallen trees and airborne debris, particularly as trees are currently in full foliage.

Moreover, Storm Kathleen may bring about localised heavy showers, heightening the risk of surface flooding in urban areas. Motorists are strongly advised against driving through flooded roads, as water depths can be deceptive and pose serious dangers.

Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Galway and Mayo will be under a status orange wind warning for a time tomorrow.
