Co. Kildare's Covid-19 Incidence Rate Increases

1,571 new cases of the virus confirmed this afternoon

NPHET says the country is facing a "long, slow" wave of Covid-19 that won't peak until next month.

1,571 new cases have been confirmed today, 70% of those diagnosed with the virus are unvaccinated, or partially vaccinated.

There are 307 patients with the virus in hospital, and 55 people in intensive care units.

Co. Kildare's Covid-19 incidence rate has increased to 400 cases, per 100,000 people.

In the 14 days, up to Sunday, 22nd August, 890 people in the county were diagnosed with the virus.

Nationally the incidence rate for the 2-week period was 524.1 cases, per 100,000 people.

In terms of the 7 days, up to Sunday, 457 people in the Co. Kildare were diagnosed, with an incidence rate of 205.4 cases per 100,000 people.
